1. Take advantage of the weather.
Fall days filled with sunshine and crisp cool air are finally here. What better way to enjoy it than taking in the fresh air and colorful scenery? Or try kayaking, apple picking, hiking, bicycling... it doesn't have to feel like exercise!
2. Think outside of the box.
A new season is a great time to try something new. Reignite that spark to try the dance class you always wanted to try, or get to the gym and learn to box.
3. Integrate exercise into your every day life.
Excited about new fall t.v. shows? Make use of commercial time and squeeze in squats, sit-ups, push-ups and triceps dips. Try walking meetings at work, and utilize the track or park equipment to squeeze in steps during sport practice and games. Park farther away and take the stairs. Each step counts.
4. Remember the 30-day rule.
Don't give up on yourself. It takes the body at least four weeks to adapt to a new lifestyle change. Commit to sticking with your routine for 30 days. It will get easier after that.
5. Find your motivation.
Remember that if it's worth having, it probably takes work. Revisit your vision for achieving your goal- do you feel better, happier, more energetic? Set small goals and challenge yourself along the way. Don't forget encouragement too!
Bonus: Rejuvenate yourself.
The new season is a great time to rejuvenate not just your body, but your mind and spirit as well. Learn to meditate, treat yourself to a new audiobook, or get that massage after a long hike. Your mental health will thank you!
